Our Programs

Support. Connection. Healing. Possibility.

Harriet’s House offers culturally grounded, trauma-informed programs that support women, youth, and families impacted by incarceration. Our programs are designed to strengthen maternal well-being, family stability, and community connection while creating spaces where participants feel seen, supported, and valued.

Through supportive relationships, practical information and resources, shared learning, and community, our programs help participants strengthen their voices, build connections, and move forward with greater support.

We believe the strength, knowledge, and power to move forward already exist within individuals, families, and communities. Our role is to help create the conditions where that power can be recognized, supported, and strengthened.

Ready to Connect?
Whether you’re interested in a program for yourself, connecting a youth or family member, making a referral, or simply aren’t sure where to begin, our Interest & Connection Form will help guide you to the right next step. Explore the programs below and select “I’m Interested” to get started.

The Bloom Initiative

The Bloom Initiative is Harriet’s House’s signature initiative supporting women impacted by the justice system through culturally grounded programs that promote maternal well-being, connection, preparation, and personal growth.

Bloom brings together two distinct programs, Women’s Empowerment Circles and Birth Preparation Classes, creating multiple ways for women to access support based on where they are in their lives. Participants may choose to take part in one or both programs based on their needs and experiences.

At its heart, Bloom creates space for women to strengthen their voices, build meaningful connections, access information and resources, and move forward surrounded by community and support.

Women Empowerment Circles

A space to connect, heal, grow, and be heard.

Women’s Empowerment Circles create supportive, culturally grounded spaces for women impacted by the justice system to connect with one another, share experiences, strengthen their voices, and build community.

Through guided conversations, shared learning, reflection, and connection to resources, participants explore topics that support personal well-being, healthy relationships, self-advocacy, family stability, and moving forward with greater confidence and support.

The Circles recognize that every woman brings her own experiences, knowledge, strengths, and hopes into the room. Women are not asked to leave those experiences at the door, they are welcomed as part of a community where they can learn from one another, support one another, and continue discovering what it means to heal, grow, and bloom.

Harriet’s House Birth Preparation program provides expectant mothers impacted by the justice system and their partners with culturally grounded education, practical tools, and support as they prepare for birth and the postpartum period.

Through interactive learning and conversation, participants explore the birth process, their options and preferences, comfort and coping strategies, communication with health care providers, partner support, self-advocacy, and preparation for the early postpartum period.

Our program recognizes that preparing for birth is about more than knowing what to expect. It is about helping mothers feel informed, confident, heard, and supported while helping partners understand how they can actively support and advocate alongside them throughout the birth experience.

Who This Program Serves
Expectant mothers impacted by the justice system and their partners.

Birth Preparation launches January 2027.

Youth Empowerment Circles

A place to be yourself and know you belong.

Harriet’s House Youth Empowerment Circles create a supportive, culturally grounded space for young people impacted by parental incarceration to connect with peers who may share similar experiences, build meaningful relationships, and know they are not alone.

Through age-appropriate activities, guided conversations, creative expression, and shared experiences, young people have opportunities to explore their feelings, strengthen communication and coping skills, build confidence, and develop positive relationships with peers and trusted adults.

Youth Empowerment Circles recognize young people for who they are, not simply for the circumstances their families have experienced. We create space for joy, learning, friendship, healing, and growth while honoring the strengths, voices, and possibilities each young person brings.

Who This Program Serves
Youth impacted by parental incarceration.

The Red Envelope Project is a signature Harriet’s House program created to remind justice-impacted mothers that they are seen, valued, and deserving of care. Each red envelope includes a small self-care gift card and a handwritten affirmation from a volunteer offering encouragement, grace, and solidarity.

Rooted in love, the project uses a simple gesture to create moments of care, connection, and affirmation. For women who may be navigating separation, stigma, and the challenges of rebuilding their lives, a red envelope carries a meaningful message: you are not forgotten, and you are not alone.

Through the Red Envelope Project, Harriet’s House encourages self-care, supports emotional healing, and creates opportunities for community members to stand alongside women through acts of compassion and encouragement.

Who This Program Serves: Justice-impacted mothers and families participating in Harriet’s House programs, as well as those served through selected partners and collaborators.
