Volunteers are an important part of the Harriet’s House community. They come alongside our work, not to rescue or save, but to contribute their time, skills, knowledge, and care in ways that support women, youth, families, and the work of Harriet’s House.
We ask volunteers to approach this work with respect, humility, and an understanding that the women and families we serve already bring strength, knowledge, and power of their own. Our role, and the role of our volunteers, is to help create supportive conditions where that strength can continue to grow.

Harriet’s House welcomes sororities, fraternities, businesses, faith communities, civic organizations, and other groups interested in serving together. Groups can support our work through organized service projects, collection drives, assembling program resources, and other activities based on current needs.
Projects may include collecting sanitary products, diapers, baby supplies, or other requested items; preparing resources for programs; or supporting special Harriet’s House initiatives.
Group volunteer projects do not automatically include direct participation in Harriet’s House programs or access to program participants. Opportunities involving direct engagement with women, youth, or families may require additional screening, orientation, and training.
Commitment: One-time or short-term group projects
Harriet’s House is intentional about who we invite into our programs and community spaces. Submitting a volunteer interest form does not guarantee placement. Volunteer opportunities are based on organizational needs, role requirements, and alignment with Harriet’s House values and approach.
Volunteers selected to serve complete a minimum 1.5-hour Volunteer Orientation & Training before beginning their role. Additional training, screening, background checks, fingerprint clearance, or other requirements may apply depending on the volunteer opportunity.
We are currently building our volunteer program and anticipate welcoming our first volunteer cohort in Spring 2027. Explore the opportunities above and apply for the volunteer role that best fits your interests. If you’re not sure where you fit, complete the Volunteer Interest Form below, and we’ll help identify opportunities that may be a good match.
Harriet’s House welcomes inquiries from students interested in internship and field-learning opportunities. Availability varies based on organizational needs, program capacity, and educational requirements. Email us directly at info@harrietshouseaz.org.
